2016 Malbec
2016 Malbec
Our Malbec, picked from a single vineyard in the heart of Langhorne Creek, spent 11 days in an open fermenter before maturing in a combination of new and seasoned French and American oak hogsheads for 17 months. Brooding aromas of black cherry, dark chocolate and tobacco leaf, combine with ripe plum, mulberry, liquorice and ripe tannins. The result is a wine with the perfect balance between flavour and structure.

A single vineyard expression massaged across 17 months in a combination of French and American oak, this pulls the lever on twilight. Rich, polished and driven as much by the piney oak tannins as it is by gushing dark fruit references, violet scents and clove. This will win many fans. ~ James Halliday, 2021 Halliday Wine Companion

“Deep ruby core with some purple tints in the rim. Liquorice, blackberry conserve and bay leaf aromas. Good intensity of black fruits, a hint of tobacco leaf alongside aniseed and mint notes. There's a saline minerality here as well, which is a feature of Langhorne Creek. Good length and persistence for this price point.” 90pts - Stuart Knox, The Real Review
The Creek is a reflection of our Region’s varietal versatility. We have blended a number of small parcels, producing a medium bodied, fruit forward wine with excellent length. It displays lifted aromas of red cherries and orange blossom which combines seamlessly with flavours of raspberry and a hint of apricot.
